This review is from: Switched: Trylle Trilogy 1 (Trylle Trilogy 1 Adult Cover) (Kindle Edition)
I must admit, I only read Switched by Amanda Hocking because I was curious about what sort of book could sell a bajillion copies online and captivate so many readers.
Switched was not fabulous or startlingly original, the prose did not leap off the page and the characters were the kind of teens you can find in any novel in the glutted YA market nowadays, but it WAS engaging.
I was keenly aware of all it's issues and yet i didn't want to stop reading. I finished it in one sitting.
My mum asked me, "Are you loving it?"
And I said: "No."
Then an hour later she asked me, "Is it good?"
To which she responded, "It must have something going for it, because you haven't put it down yet."
And, as usual, my mum was right. I simply could not put it down and that's why I'm giving this book four stars. It has some indiscernible quality that keeps you reading and I suppose that's the mark of a good story.
I just bought the sequel and I'm embarrassingly excited to get stuck in.
I think this book is deserving of it's success and Amanda Hocking should be proud, she may not yet be a fabulous writer, but she has an uncanny ability for crafting a story.
