5.0 out of 5 stars It works! but needs to be set correctly (on Time-Warner cable), January 3, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Netgear CG3000D Euro-Docsis 3.0 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway (Personal Computers)
Initially I had the same problem everyone else has complained about - slow loading of webpages, but fast according to Speedtest. To get it to work correctly, you need to turn off IP Flood Detection in the Services menu (apparently the modem decides that complex webpages are flooding the modem and throttles the traffic, when you shut off this setting, now you get full speed internet without any problems). To set it, connect to the modem at http://192.168.0.1, user: MSO, password: changeme (these are the defaults), click on Services (on the left), and uncheck IP Flood Detection. You still need to call TimeWarner cable with the MAC address for them to allow it on their network. After they did their stuff, I reset the modem (using a paperclip in the bottom for 10 seconds), but I don't think this was necessary (this was before I found the IP Flood Detection setting). (Time-Warner Cable wouldn't give any help at all (they suck), and neither will Netgear.)

After it is set correctly the modem works great and the WiFi works great too, actually working better/faster/more reliably than the modem/router that TimeWarner cable was renting to us. Best of all, it is $7 per month that we don't give to TimeWarner Cable.

How did you get to "IP Flood Detection" because i cannot find that anywhere? Please help.

Where is the Service Menu? The only selections i have is Setup, Maintenance and Advanced. Please help because i would hate to return the device if i'm able to fix it on my own. I really want to escape the TWC rental fee.

Had problems with this too. Found out that you need to use a special login to the router to get these options:

Username: MSO
Password: changeme

actually I did it successfully: you have to type MSO in uppercase and changeme in lower case! and it works and you can see "services" on the left and uncheck ip flood detection.

Okay, so I see the follow-up comments about the specific log in to change the settings, but I can't seem to get logged out of my account in order to log back in. I keep logging out, but when I go back to that address (http://192.168.0.1) it just brings my account back up. Help?!

Hi Cindy, I'm wondering in which area do you use the modem. I'm going to move to NC where Time-Warner is a provider. Not sure if it depends on area if the modem will work better or worse. Want to have just Wi-Fi and buy modem beforehand so I can connect a service as soon as I move,
Thanks Ellen
