3.0 out of 5 stars Basic wireless mouse that does the job, January 1, 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Typically I'm not really a fan of wireless mice. As an avid gamer I dislike having them fade out in the middle of playing which usually ends in frustration. I'm also not a fan of constantly having to replace the batteries. I'll gladly put up with a cord over convenience of a wireless mouse. That being said however, I wanted to give the Amazon Basics Wireless Mouse with Nano Receiver a go when it showed up on Amazon Vine. Here are my thoughts;

Pros

+ Extremely easy installation/set-up. No physical software installation necessary. Windows detects and updates everything.

+ Nano receiver can be safely stored inside of the battery compartment, making it much more difficult to lose.

+ Affordable.

Cons

- A bit too small for my hands. This mouse is made more for laptops and for portability.

- Having to remove the battery cover just to store the nano receiver is a bit bothersome. Many wireless mice have a slot on the side where you can just insert it.

- Odd battery angle insert.

- Mouse and batteries both are made in China.

All in all a functional wireless mouse that serves all basic purposes. The price is generally affordable depending on Amazon's price fluctuations and it's certainly always cheaper than most wireless mouse competitors. Would I buy another one, probably not as its a bit too small for my hands. However, would I recommend it to someone looking for a basic wireless laptop mouse? Sure thing.

Hi D.
Great review.
Both you and I can appreciate the inconvenience of a mouse going belly-up at the wrong time...you know where I'm coming from.
I can speak on items from China...had a lawn product go faulty...easy to repair with the right parts...NO PARTS, anywhere.
Lots of useful info in this review. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hi Ray,
I knew that if you read this you'd appreciate where I'm coming from. Worst time for a mouse to die during Payday? When you're being tased or trying to take down a bulldozer. No fun. Thanks as always for the visit!

Thanks for the info, it helps - especially about the hand size. One thing about the Made In China though, when I saw that I flipped over a couple other wireless mice we have (a Logitech and a Microsoft) and their country of origin was also China. We haven't had any problems with either so I wonder if that it may be not so much of an issue. But I fully agree with your 'con' about the batteries, those cheap-o Chinese batteries included with things are usually junk so we toss them and use Made in the USA Energizer brand

Hi Kirk,
In the past I've had people ask me about where certain items were made so I've just made a habit of putting it in my reviews. Thanks for stopping by!
