A Great Addition to the Decemberist Catalogue,
This review is from: The King Is Dead (MP3 Music)
This album is amazing. It's accessible, beautiful, and evergreen.
I loved the previous album (The Hazards of Love), but there was something about it that made it difficult to simply turn on in the middle of the day or during a party. It needed a full audience with full attention. The Kind is Dead works on every level for any listener.

I agree with your comments. I only recently started listening to the Decemberists and Hazards of Love was my first CD. I love it, but it is a CD I enjoy listening to alone, and having a couple beers. It is not music that will appeal to the masses, but then neither is much of what I listen to. But King is Dead appeals to me as well as to my friends and family. I just got back from a 4 day motorcycle trip and "Dear Avery" was in my head the entire time. I love this album.

"The Kind is Dead" ... interesting irony.
Errors can often cast light in unusual directions.
Your typo set me to pondering every bit as much as the music.
Brilliance arrives as an unanticipated guest.
Please do not correct this typo.
It is essential.
