This review is from: ASUS A53U-AS22 15.6-Inch Laptop (1.65 GHz AMD E-450 Processor, 4GB DIMM, 500GB HDD, Windows 7 Home Premium) Mocha (Personal Computers)
Bought this machine and was pleased with it for a little while. But the hard drive went down with in 6 months. I called the company and had no help from them. They told me to take it back to where I bought it from. They agreed to ship it back to Asus but the company stated they would replace the harddrive but I would need to buy the back up disc for $50. They should stand behind there warranty. They should have shipped the machine back the same as it was shipped new. I would never recommend this laptop or company to anyone.

I apologize for the issues you had with your laptop. I am also sorry for the experience you had with customer support.

You notebook comes with a manufacturer's warranty from Asus that should be good for 2 years after the purchase date. Under the warranty repair terms, you should not be charged for any repairs unless it was customer induced damage (physical damage). Which company processed this return for you to us? Back-up disc can be made free of charge using a utility that came with the Asus laptop. Every Asus laptop has a hidden recovery partition in the C drive. There is a back-up utility that comes preloaded with your machine. You can use this utility to make your own back-up discs instead of paying $50 for them.
