This review is from: The Earwig's Tail: A Modern Bestiary of Multi-legged Legends (Hardcover)
I bought this book based on a positive review in the New Scientist. The idea behind the book is indeed fascinating, and promising. Admitted, there are some strong parts in the book, but these parts are fastly deluted in attempts to be funny, and endless diversions, as if the author had the fill a minimum number of pages per chapter. The basic material in the book would make a fascinating, strong 15 page article, however Berenbaum (or is it: her editor???) managed to transform this in a somewhat boring, too anecdotal, try-to-please-all-readers book.
