I got the printer for free with the purchase of my MacBook Pro laptop computer. I've mostly been happy with it, but it's ridiculous that a part I've only used twice is now broken after only 1 1/2 years (and through no fault of my own), and now I'll have to replace the device. I just purchased the same printer/copier and I had the same problem until I realized that I was putting the cartridges in wrong. The printed label should be facing the top of the printer and not visible from the front. I did the same thing - the color cartridge went in fine but the black would not. Try turning the cartridges with the label up...

That may be how you put the cartridges in on your model, but not on mine. Just to be sure, I tried what you suggested, but the cartridges don't fit that way at all. Thanks for trying to help!
