1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible horrible book, February 9, 2012
This review is from: How to Teach Your Baby to Read (The Gentle Revolution Series) (Paperback)
I read this book and some others by Doman. Some of the things they are talking about don't seem to make sense. So I did more research. If you wiki "Glenn Doman", you will see a long list of "scientific criticism". [...]

The fundamentals of Doman's method are NOT scientific at all. By following the method in this book, your kid may be able to read but will almost surely hate reading.

Will most surely hate reading??!! All the kids in my extended family who fell in love with reading thorough this method would very much disagree!
And no matter all the scientific criticism, without the Institutes and Doman's treatments, my severely cerebral-palsy injured sister would never have learned to crawl, much less walk, read in three languages and go to a regular school.

My kid learned to read this way (I taught him phonics too) and he loves reading and looks at his books a lot. He also loves the library. Your statement is not true for me.

My mother taught me to read at age 2 in 1980 by using this method. I am the fastest reader I know, and love reading. On average I read a book a day. I think this method gave me an enormous start in life, and I totally disagree with your statement that "your kid may be able to read but will almost certainly hate reading".
