Chilling, Compelling Read,
This review is from: Cover of Snow: A Novel (Hardcover)
I enjoy character-driven, complex mysteries and Cover of Snow sounded intriguing.
As soon as I picked it up, I literally could not put it down! From the first tragic event that sets the story in motion to the very end, Cover of Snow is a mesmerizing, compelling read -- a classic page turner. It has everything a great mystery needs: an appealing main character who's confused but determined; a propulsive pace; and a plot that twists and turns. As the story unfolds, Nora Hamilton struggles to peel away the layers of secrecy that shroud a small Adirondack town like the snow that falls relentlessly. We see her discover uncomfortable truths about herself even as she uncovers the truth about events frozen in time. Once Nora begins searching for answers, the town she's called home and the people she's trusted turn increasingly sinister.
Chilling and atmospheric, Cover of Snow is filled with richly drawn characters. One rhyming trickster, in particular, is a true original. Jenny Milchman manages to weave the many strands of her story into a surprising but satisfying ending that left me guessing until the last page. A great read!
