Nice quality, pretty purple!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BEARPAW Women's Emma 10" Shearling Boot (Apparel)
I bought these for my 12 year old daughter. She didn't want plain black or brown boots, but all the cute colored ones were in young girls sizes, and she wears a ladies size 8! So I was very happy to find these in her favorite color, purple. The color is a very beautiful, rich purple, which my daughter loves. I love these boots because they are high quality. They are real suede for starters. The lining is real sheep fleece, and it covers the ENTIRE inside of the boots. The fleece makes the boots so warm and soft and cozy. Your feet just sink into them. The soles are padded and made of thick rubber with good traction on the bottom. When shopping for these, I found some that look just about identical for much less money, but they were made of thin fake suede, had thin, polyester fake fleece that was only in the top part of the boot, and had thin soles with zero padding. They were sold as boots but were really more like house slippers. These were more money but they are great quality and will last. I got the free shipping and Amazon was giving a discount, so they really weren't all that much more. But they are totally worth it. They are soft and comfortable and warm and I know they will last. She wears them almost every day, and will wear them all winter and probably the next 2 winters also. (I got them one size too big so they have growing room, and I think her feet are almost finished growing.) These boots are very similar to the boots made by that "famous" brand that has three letters in their name. The quality is just as good, but Bearpaw is less than half the price.
Edit: It is two years later and the boots have held up nicely. They still look good and she still wears them often during the colder months. I just ordered and received some of the Emma boots in black for her because I am so pleased with the Bearpaw quality.

I agree that these boots are just as good quality as the famous make brand. I bought a similar pair last year. As long as you use the spray waterproof on them they really do hold up. I wore mine a lot and they still look nice. For a 12 year old girl, (I have an 11 and 18 years girls), I wouldn't be wearing them in the wet weather- that is the only thing. These suede boots are great in the dryer cold but they lose their shape if they get wet over and over again. Even with the waterproofing, still need a waterproof boot for those wet, slushy days if you want to get several years wear out of these boots. Both my daughters and I have had these type boots.

I agree not to wear them in wet or slushy snow. Maybe waterproofing spray would help. I don't know since I haven't tried that. But for rain use rainboots and for snow use snowboots. These she wears in dry cold weather and to school to look cute. It's 2 years later and they have held up well and still look fairly nice, even though she is a tomboy and very hard on her shoes. I just ordered her the black ones since I'm so pleased with the Bearpaw quality.

I think most shoe companies recommend you go up a half size rather than down. These boots are nice and furry inside and I would think they would be nice and cozy even if hey were a little big. You could also wear thick socks since they are for cold weather. Enjoy!

Thank you for the detail about the inside part of boot: The natural fleece. I buy both brands you referred to and I make my selection based on the incredible fit real fleece can provide arthritic feet like my two, ugly "boats"! I live in semi-tropical climate, and am amazed that more people do not realize that this kind of lining isn't too hot going to the beach, watching TV with tootsies under the covers, the fleece is an incredible comfort with Neuropathy related problems, the fleece can breathe, and shapes itself to your foot's form, and fake fleece doesn't even come close!

I have these boots and my daughters have the "other" ones. While my feet stay toasty warm at the high school football games, they are ALWAYS complaining about their cold feet. Don't let a big name brand fool you. It's not always the best deal.
