an odd little engine,

I didn't notice that there is nothing on the description that says that this item is in HO scale so it's actually amazing that I got the scale I wanted. Now, about this odd little engine - The detail in the workmanship is beautiful but I was surprised to see how the electrical part of the engine and tender are designed. There is no electrical connection is the engine to make the engine run. It requires the tender. All the wheels of the tender must make connection with the track because they supply the electric power for the drive motor for the wheels of the engine. You might say, well of course they will make connection with the track, but you would be wrong. The metal connector between the tender and engine acts like a spring which makes the tender bounce and lose connection. I put some weight in the tender to press the wheels onto the track. And the other path for the electricity between the tender and the engine is a very fine wire which is almost invisible and could be broken if you're not careful. The tiny front wheel of the engine only supplies the electric power for the head light. This engine looks good but it does not run dependably - and the motor whines. I would suggest that this engine be put on display and not actively used on the track.
