Sight Unseen I Was Destined To Love This Book,
This review is from: In the Kitchen with David: QVC's Resident Foodie Presents Comfort Foods That Take You Home (Hardcover)
On Sunday, I usually gravitate to QVC and In The Kitchen With David. David Venable is the resident foodie at the TV retailer and they couldn't have gotten a better person to pitch their kitchen items. Invariably, Venable incorporates the Network's wares as he whips up delectable tidbits and full meals. If there is anyone out there that you know would give you a fabulous meal if you were invited to their home for dinner, it would be Paula Deen or David Venable. By the way, Paula Dean authored the foreword to this book, but the recipes are from David Venable.
This book has a ton of great tasting and easy to execute recipes, with simple instructions and readily available ingredients. The color photographs are guaranteed to get you salivating as one thumbs through this cookbook. So far I've made a super moist and tasty pound cake that opened my sense of smell to the fragrance of lemons, a light coleslaw that is magnificently seasoned and veggie divine without being bogged down in a heavy mayonnaise, light and crispy buttermilk brined fried chicken, succulent meatloaf, and my absolute favorite mac and cheese topped with applewood smoked bacon.
Appetizers, salads, soups, main dishes, and deserts.....this book has it all.
The recipes are decidedly non-diet and won't win any skinny girl accolades, but eaten judicially in small servings this book is a culinary delight that says love, home, and comfort. I fantasize about being housebound in winter and cooking my heart out. Oops, there goes my weight.
