Work Great on HP Laptop,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba Dynadock Docking Station (PA3927U1PRP) (Personal Computers)
I have HP DV7. This work flawlessly with USB 2.0 and 3.0. You'll need to spend time adjusting the sound if you have 5.1 speakers, but other than that, excellent. Amazed at the dual extended display capability. You can have up to extra monitors! Wow.......This is not your average docking station. It does not charge the lap top..

Just a quick (perhaps silly) question or two, but I must ask, and I plead for your patience and support. You said it does not charge the laptop so a person would have their laptop's AC adaptor plugged in from their laptop to a protected power supply, as they normally would and then the only other cord that would be needed would be the USB 3.0 running from the laptop to the docking station. Is that right?
In order to "disconnect" from the docking station, I presume that you would simply utilize the "Safely Remove Hardware" and then you could be off and running (disconnect power cord if you'd want to work on battery) - is that right? I have two external drives I'd want connected via the docking station so am just concerned about the semantics of how they would be connected and left if I were to disconnect the laptop from the docking station. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

You are correct. I have only a power supply and the dynadock via USB 3.0. I also have two external drives. As far as disconecting. All you need to do is unplug it, or select that option on the system tray icon. Does that clarify for you?

Thank you for responding so quickly. I believe this helps me understand better, but I just want to make certain - really hate to be a pain, but I need to be certain and I don't have anyone else to ask. So if you had your two external drives plugged into the dynadock and they are "on" (mine are always on), it would not be harmful to the externals if you unplugged the dynadock from the laptop? Thank you so much for your time and your assistance!

Hi S. Samra,
Are your external drives USB 3.0 drives? My Dyna Dock U3.0 works great without my USB 3.0 external drive attached but freezes up if I attach it. I just want to see if this is a USB 3.0 bug before shipping it back to Toshiba.

So I have 2 external drives, one is a seagate 3.0. They both work well......
