This review is from: Wii Fit Game with Balance Board (Video Game)
I bought this as a tool to help my mother with her balance and coordination. My parents are in their 70s. From the minute I set it up, they became fans. My mother is more computer savvy and likes games online, but my father is more an outdoors person. I felt he could benefit from the exercises too. Mom was shocked to see how much Dad was into it! The balance games such as heading soccer balls and slalom skiing ask for nothing more than shifting your weight from left to right, but it is challenging and keeps the user engaged since the duration is short (1-2 min mostly for beginner levels). They are exactly what my mom needs.
It was easy to explain to my parents how to use the Wii and the Wii Fit when I am not around, so I know they will continue to "train" (or play--however you want to call it). PLEASE NOTE (because I didn't realize this till after I bought Wii Fit) you need to have the Wii game console in order to use Wii Fit! So if you just get Wii Fit without the console you only have 1/2 of what you need.
Besides balance games, some of the other great activities for my parents are the yoga poses, which help with stretching, breathing and relaxing. Some are harder than others, but there are plenty to do for someone who isn't able to touch his/her toes or do push-ups. I have loads of fun with the Wii Fit as well, especially how more games "unlock" as you continue to spend time training. I am a gym rat, and still found the strength training games challenging (because they slow everything down to really focus on the core, for example during push-ups). I highly recommend this for senior citizens, and of course for non-seniors like me. There is truly nothing else like it!
