Excellent camera, stupid cable,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Olympus Stylus TG-630 iHS Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 3-Inch LCD (Red) (Old Model) (Electronics)
This camera has been excellent so far, good image quality and very good exposure control. I've been able to take better pictures in almost all lighting - sunsets, backlit, etc on the basic automatic setting, and the camera delivers stunning results.
The only bad thing so far - the camera has a charging/data port that is just about the same size and shape as a usb plug, but Olympus gives you a proprietary plug (that is about the same size/shape as a usb plug). Fail! They could have stretch a little bit and made it a standard plug, of which I have ten floating around the house, rather than a specific one that I have to keep track of and identify.

ARGH... I hated this about my old Olympus Tough. It's such a hassle while traveling that I'm actually looking for alternate brands.

These cables are actually readily available and cheap: Olympus Stylus Tough TG-630 USB Cable - CB-USB6 USB
Anyway, I do somewhat agree, I don't like having to carry the cable around every time I have to charge the batt AND again when I want to upload pics to comp. If it weren't proprietary, I could just leave one cable plugged into my comp all the time. Not a huge deal, but it does take a little extra effort.
