Future 5-Disc Set to be released in 2010!,
This review is from: Saturday Night Live: Season 6 (DVD)
When Universal Pictures releases Saturday Night Live the Complete 5th Season (1979-1980) on December 1, 2009, I hope Saturday Night Live Season 6 (1980-1981), which was the first season, with an all-new cast, gets released sometime in 2010!
Denny Dillon (Dream On)
Gilbert Gottfried (Disney's Aladdin Films, Cyberchase)
Tim Kazurinsky - (Hot to Trot)
Gail Matthius (Tiny Toon Adventures)
Eddie Murphy (Beverly Hill Cop, The Nutty Professor, Doctor Dolittle, Shrek)
Tony Rosato (The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World)
Charles Rocket (1949-2005) - who was fired the saying the F word on TV.
Yvonne Hudson - the first African-American female cast member
Season six started on November 15, 1980 and ended on April 11, 1981, with only 13 episodes.
Saturday Night Live - The Complete 6th Season (1980-1981) should released as a 5-disc set containing all 13 episodes
Elliott Gould (November 15, 1980)
Malcolm McDowell (November 22, 1980)
Ellen Burstyn (December 6, 1980)
Jamie Lee Curtis (December 13, 1980)
David Carradine (December 20, 1980)
Ray Sharkey (January 10, 1981)
Karen Black (January 17, 1981)
Robert Hays (Jaunary 24, 1981)
Sally Kellerman (February 7, 1981)
Deborah Harry (February 14, 1981)
Charlene Tilton (February 21, 1981)
Bill Murray (March 7, 1981)
Season Finale (April 11, 1981)
Please release Saturday Night Live Season 6 sometime in 2010!

The Rover says:
Why did Season 6 start so late.... in the middle of November, instead of late September / early October ? ? ?

It would be great if they would pair this season up with the next one.

Gotta laugh how you list the credits for all the cast except Piscapo and one other. ...even Gail Matthias. Without looking it up I know Joe Piscapo was big for his role in Johnny Dangerously. And Tim Kazurinsky for Police Academy. Where you get stuff like Tiny Toons and forget that stuff....I just found it funny.
As for me, I would consider buying this season because I baring remember it. Not often do we see reruns from this season. I'd like to see Gilbert Gottfried....although my memory of him on this show is much different than what he is like now.
As for Charlie Rocket, I do believe he appears in a Tom Petty video after this show.
Who were the music guests for this season?

Rover...this season started mid-November due to the 1980 elections, apparently NBC used the SNL offices for addtional election coverage.
So...any news on this season being released? Even if it's a train-wreck..I would love to re-visit these episodes.

D. Phillips says:
When Lorne Michaels left SNL the original cast did to, so NBC had to start from scratch for the next season. I'm guessing thats why the show started so late that year.

Misleading - for one Eddie Murphy was not a cast member. He did nto appear regularly. THose looking for Eddie Murphy will be happy to see him but dissappointed in the amount of time he was given.
Secondly, you ahve the discs all laid out. How do you know? There has been no announcement of this even coming out.
I do think we need to see seasons other than the first 5.

Well here we are, almost into 2014, and no sign of season 6 being released. I guess the powers that be would rather not be reminded that season 6 ever existed.

At the very least, a best of these seasons... most of the music, etc. Like what Shout! did with Fridays. And then move on to what they consider the bester post-5th Season episodes. As a fan, I want it all. But the waiting is the hardest part (to quote Petty).
