Product Appears OK But Packaging is Awful,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ES Robbins - Anchormat Chair Mat for Plush Pile Carpets, Clear
I ordered this "oversize" or "large" 45"x53" chair mat because of the many good to excellent reviews. I just received it today, so I can't yet say whether the product lives up to it's claims and guarantee of no cracking. But I know the packaging is very, very BAD. It came rolled up with a black "saran wrap" type wrapping covering the center 36" of the product, which was fine. BUT, underneath that, the mat was taped together into the roll position with industrial strength clear packaging tape that is apparently intended to withstand a nuclear blast! I pulled the tape off with a lot of trouble, but it left a sticky tape residue behind that I was only able to partically remove with an entire can of "Goo Gone" and hands and knees scrubbing. (I tested a small part of the mat with Goo Gone to be sure it wouldn't ruin the mat.) Then, I cleaned it with Lysol disinfecting wipes and Windex spray to get rid of the Goo Gone smell and what was left of the tape goo. Even after all that, there are still sticky spots on the mat. When I step on it with my shoes, you can feel my shoes stick and hear a "sticky pull off" sound when I pull my shoes away. What a mess! It leaves an imprint of my shoe clearly showing on the mat. The black "saran wrap" wrapping would have held it in the roll position just fine. There was no need for the extra sticky, industrial strength clear tape. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get rid of all the sticky mess. I may send it back to Amazon as damaged goods. Yuuck! And by the way, the mat is supposed to be 45"x53" but is really 45"x52" with the 52" dimension accurate only if you count the lip. It is really too small for my large workspace between my regular desk and my computer desk, even though it was supposed to be "large." I guess I need the "executive" size. Be warned.
