Now that I graduated from the Hardy Boys!,
This review is from: Pacific Vortex (Dirk Pitt Adventure) (Mass Market Paperback)I rearely have as much fun reading a book as I do when it is a Dirk Pitt novel. It sends me back. When I was a kid in the fourth or fifth grade I used to voraciously consume Hardy Boys books. Adventure after crime solving adventure. Fighting the bad guys, getting with the cute girl. They were everything that I could ever dream of.
Now I'm older, the hardy Boys aren't quite as exciting as they used to be, after all I'm almost thirty, but Dirk Pitt that is another story. Imagine the excitement and joy of a Hardy Boys book, of not knowing what will happen next or how Frank or Joe will get out of any given situation. Now make the cute girl a beautiful woman, make the scary situation deadly, and usually underwater, presto Dirk Pitt, Hardy Boys for adults.
Don't take this in a bad way, I loved the Hardy Boys and I love Dirk Pitt, and this book in particualr is the best place to start. Pacific Vortex is the first of the Dirk Pitt novels and is easily consumed with just a few hours of reading time. The action moves quick, the situations are harrowing from one moment to the next and the mystry is thick. Pick this one up and relive what it was like reading adventure novels as a kid, this is wat all adventure novels shoud be like now that we are adults!
