5.0 out of 5 stars Works same as original, length is good, May 10, 2012

This review is from: KHOMO Super Long 6ft (SIX Feet!) USB Data Charging Cable for Samsung Galaxy Tab (Electronics)
The Khomo cord works just like the original Samsung cord except it is longer. It charges only when used with the Samsung plug. If you pull off the plug to use it with the USB connection, then your Samsung Tablet tells you that it is not charging but is connected. The small graphic of a battery in the bottom right corner shows the battery with a red 'x' when connected to a computer by the USB and adds a standard USB graphic. Disconnect from your USB and put back into your Samsung AC plug and the battery shows that it is charging again. I tried this with both the original Samsung cord that came with my Samsung Tablet 7.0 Plus and the Khomo cord and got identical results. When in the USB mode, I moved a lot of files without difficulty. However, whichever cord one uses, you still can't move files between the expansion memory card and the main memory, of course. That is a known serious flaw in the operating system. The length, by the way, is about perfect. Much better than the much too short original.

A standard USB port does not provide enough power to charge AND operate high power devices such as this. If you plug it into a computer and use the tablet while it is plugged in, it will power the device (or at least provide most of the power, maximizing battery life), but not charge it. If you turn the tablet OFF while connected to the computer, it WILL charge, although slowly. The included charger is designed to provide a higher current than is the standard for computers, and a pair of the data lines are shorted together to signal the tablet that it is not a computer, and extra power is available for charging and operating, or for fast charging.

Update - Android operating system was updated in 2013 and allows files to be moved between device and expansion card. This is a much appreciated improvement!

Also, I discovered that even when the logo on the screen shows with red symbol and doesn't think it is charging, it actually is but very, very slowly.
