I purchased this item in advance for when I received my Canon T3i. It works great, but I have only used it for movie mode at this time. If your in movie mode, hitting the "s" button will take a picture, and the "2s" button will start and stop your video. This is a must have for anyone recording video of themselves for youtube and they do not have a second person behind the camera to operate it.

Thank you for this. Movie mode on my T3i is annoying, the remote is much simpler.

hi there, can you please tell me exactly how you managed to get this to work with your T3i? I recently bought the T3i, but cant seem to get this remote to work with it. Many thanks for your consideration.

You need to turn on timer mode by going into drive mode or by clicking the timer icon (standard on most cameras) and select option which says "Self-timer: 10sec/Remote Control". Once this is set, the remote can be used.

Chad B, I tried movie mode and cant get this to respond - any tricks. I did get it to take a single picture in remote/timer mode so the signal is getting to the camera - just can not start a movie.

Wow, didn't realize I had this many comments. If you are using this for movie mode you need to set your camera to accept a remote. So simply hit the Menu button, then you will see an option called Remote. This is second from the bottom, which you will just turn it on, or enable it. Then back out and you should be set to go! Hope that helps!
