This set will include the separately released Winners disc Warner Brothers Home Entertainment Academy Awards Animation Collection - The 15 Winners, pluse two discs of nominees. Nancy Beiman says:
I wish that PEACE ON EARTH was included, it's so much better than the absolutely horrible MILKY WAY...but then again, maybe it's one of the 12 unannounced nominees.

(edit) Thanks for the update. I was unaware that there was a sequel made to PEACE ON EARTH...how could there be?

This set is worth buying just for FROM A TO Z-Z-Z-Z. I've been waiting for this one for years. I love Ralph Phillips!
It's amazing to see how many fine cartoons were nominated but didn't win...1940 alone was a golden year, with A WILD HARE, KNOCK KNOCK (the first Woody Woodpecker) and BONE TROUBLE (Disney) losing out to the aforementioned, horrible, MILKY WAY.
The absence of Disney shorts on this reel leaves a large hole, of course, but then again Disney's got those on their own DVDS.
I'm waiting for this one with bated breath!

RHAPSODY IN RIVETS is a great one from the very underrated Friz Freleng. (spoiler) Run this one and then get out your FANTASIA CONTINUED disc and have a look at RHAPSODY IN BLUE! There are 'tribute' shots to this great old cartoon in the building sequence.

Oh, and Bugs' campaign for the Oscar must be from WHAT'S COOKIN', DOC? another great Bob Clampett cartoon that is long overdue for DVD!

PEACE ON EARTH will probably appear on the Nominees discs, it did not win. It has not been officially announced, but insiders have told me that it should be there.

How come amazon is selling both the Award Winners disc and the Award Winners and Nominees as a two pack? one is included in the other? isn't it?

"The Dot and the Line" was previously released on DVD in the special features for The Glass Bottom Boat (1966) with Doris Day.

Thanks for the update on Dot and the Line. It is hard to keep up with Warner's bonus cartoons included with their features. I will add this to my list & correct my review.

This is not the first time Amazon has offered combining a DVD set with a DVD that is already included in that DVD set. They just use a computer that finds similar items to combine. I will alert them.

I am wondering if the Looney Tunes shorts that are new to DVD on this set will be included on a future release of The Looney Tunes Golden Collection? I hope so, as I want these shorts but, don't want to buy the repeat cartoons from the other sets.

Anyone have any info?

It is very likely that the Looney Tunes on this set will make it to one of the Looney Tunes Golden Collections in the future. I can not say that it would be this year. This release is not a part of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection series. The title least likely to appear in an upcoming cartoon DVD release is "The Dot And The Line" (which is currently a bonus on a Doris Day DVD "The Glass Bottom Boat").

Thanks for the help. This is very frustrating for fans. It's hard enough keeping this straight when buying the Golden Collections but, now I have to check these cross releases.
