I couldn't put it down! 5 stars!,
This review is from: Law of Attraction: A Novel (Hardcover)What a fun read!! This book has everything that an exciting legal thriller should have -- murder, romance, intrigue, courtroom drama, compelling characters, and lots of SURPRISES that will keep you hooked until the very end. I am not usually a big reader of fiction, but I thought this story was excellent. I'll be watching for whatever the author has in store next!

I keep reading 'gritty' and 'realistic' and then 'funny'...So I'm curious if this is a 'pain as entertainment' book (so not my thing) or if it is written with enough distance that enjoyment is actually a feature of the reading? Anyone have an opinion?

The humor comes in because the characters are witty and likeable. The author describes things in ways that the reader can relate to and that are sometimes amusing. Even jobs (e.g. sex crimes prosecutor) that involve gritty and realistic issues can include moments of levity and humor. It is not "pain as entertainment," in my opinion.
