Poor quality, rough edges, splintering,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Melissa & Doug Car Carrier (Toy)
Purchased this through Amazon on a pre Black Friday Deal. Don't know if these were second quality items because of the low price or if quality control in manufacturing is poor. I can't imagine this unit just "slipped" though quality control with all the rough edges, splintering, and chipped wood on the car carrier trailer. Either whoever put it together was seriously not paying attention or just did not care. Will be contacting Amazon to see if we can get a replacement to see if that is any better.
After this and a toddler puzzle gift that started deteriorating almost immediately, I am reconsidering whether purchasing Melissa and Doug toys is worth the hassle of unexpected problems with poor quality. They used to make very nice high quality toys, but may be no longer.
Melissa & Doug: Listen to customers and impove your oversight of quality.

mine had rough edges too, and poorly glued parts that caused the wheels to not turn! i was so disappointed. i also got the lacing puzzles and all the holes were so rough, it tore up the laces on the first use, making them all fuzzy. i COULD go in and sand every last hole and fix the truck, but what a time consuming project that would be. we returned the lacing board, my kid still loves the truck, so alas, broken and everything, it stays. :( i was surprised at how many great reviews this got... im not sure i like m&d after these last two experiences.
