Honest review 4.5 stars.,
This review is from: BEYOND: Two Souls (Video Game)
Beyond two souls has a great story, the visuals are beyond amazing and the acting is well done.
This game plays more like an interactive movie than a video game.
The downfall of this game? The gameplay is weak. The rest of the game makes up for the poor control.
So how does it stack up to the game maker's other games?
Heavy Rain and Indigo prophecy, it's predecessor's, has more choices. I feel as if beyond two souls takes away the amount of choice that the user has but is much more stable animation wise and graphics are not going crazy like Heavy rain and the random rotating exorcist heads. Beyond two souls is a polished piece of work that is for sure.
Though sometimes I missed the randomness that Heavy Rain and even indigo prophecy's control wise offered ... There was more things to interact with in that game and beyond two souls has very little object interaction besides from the objects that were meant to progress the plot. This made the story feel very controlled and it was not as difficult to figure out what to do which took the challenge out of the game. To me that was what was fun, to figure out what to do next. That said, I can't mark the game down for these aspects because the story is so good that it makes up for some of this. The story is less dark than Heavy rain and actually better. There is not so much nudity in this game and the acting is top rate.
It's a good game. It's not a shooter and it's game play is not the best. That said there is something great about this game. I would recommend it to those who like story and character development. Skip if you are looking for a button bashing game.
