I ordered the Quantum Axis A23 as a father's day gift for my dad. As I do with all gifts for him, I opened it to test it out and set it up. Let me begin by saying, this tablet exceeded my expectations. For $55, you can beat the specs. It has a dual-core 1.5GHz processor whereas most tablets in this price range have a 1.2GHz single-core processor. It also has a dedicated GPU which helps gaming and video performance. I tested some 1080P HD files (in MKV format loaded on an external SD card) and they played flawlessly on the native video player. No lag or stuttering and the audio was in sync! I also played Angry Birds, Temple Run 2, and Clash of Clans which all ran without lag! I added my dad's Comcast e-mail to the built-in email app and there were no issues with syncing, not that there should've been.
The screen also beats other tablets in this price range by far. It has a resolution of 1024x600 which makes the screen a lot more sharper. Text and video appeared 100% clear without any noticeable pixelation. Despite having such a nice, bright screen, the battery does not die quickly. I've done some light web browsing, app downloading, video playback, and It's been on standby for the past 48 hours, and it still has more than half of battery left in it.
I had no issues with Wi-Fi or downloading apps. The Wi-Fi on this device is actually VERY strong. It picks up my neighbor's Wi-Fi networks even when my Samsung Galaxy doesn't! The Google Play Store and all Google Apps come pre-installed so there's no need to load a custom ROM (unlike other tablets). Google Now is installed on this tablet which I did not expect. (Google Now is Android's version of Siri). Lastly, the tablet comes already rooted so you have the ability to edit the software as you please. I was surprised again to see that it has a lifetime defect warranty from Quantum but based on what I've seen I do not see this tablet failing anytime soon.

Does this come with a camera. How does web browsing via Chrome work on this device, i.e could you book flights/trains/etc and not have any hassle?

It has 2 cameras; one on the front and one on the back.
Web browsing is excellent, no issues at all. I personally use Chrome and the built-in web browser.

Al Gozinya says:
The "lifetime warranty" is not offered by Quantum nor is it included with the purchase, but rather an optional additional cost insurance contract through a third party company.
