A Wonderful Must Read Book,
This review is from: Red Ink (Extreme Devotion Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Red Ink by Kathi Macias captured my heart with the first page and still has not let go long after the last. This book will change you. Red Ink is the third book in Macias' Extreme Devotion series; the first two being No Greater Love and More than Conquerors.
What does a young Chinese woman in China, two elderly women in a nursing home, and a young rebellious teenager all have in common? The young Chinese woman, Zhen-Li falls in love with and marries a Christian, and adopts his faith. Though the couple downplays their Christianity in an effort to survive, Zhen-Li's family is shamed by her new religion, and she and her husband are ostracized. When she became pregnant for the second time and refused to have an abortion, the persecution began in earnest. And Zhen-Li finds herself in prison, facing pure evil face to face. The two women in the nursing home feel their time of usefulness for the Lord is coming to an end, but God has big plans for them before their glorious homecoming. And the rebellious teenager shows readers there is more than one way to be incarcerated. Prisons coming in all shapes and sizes.
Every Christian may not find themselves in a prison--behind the physical steel bars being persecuted for their faith--but I believe every Christian will face some form of persecution. As soon as Red Ink showed up in my mailbox I could not put the book down until the last page was turned. Would I be as faithful as Zhen-Li in the same circumstances? Would I pursue someone who does not know Christ even if they continually are mean? What prisons in my life have I allowed because they were enticing to begin with? These are all questions readers will be mulling over in their mind.
