great still camera,
This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix S4200 Digital Camera (OLD MODEL) (Electronics)
Just got this camera today, and have been running around the house taking photos in every condition that I can find. It works great and the 14mp is a great improvement from my 5mp and it works in almost any light. Now the video is not all that great the HD says you can only record a little over 9 minutes and the picture is not too steady without a tripod. I like to mount my camera on the dash of my car and take videos while I am driving, I guess for that I will have to go back to my old camcorder. The 24X zoom works great for still photos, I can read license plates from almost 1/4 mile away. For still photos, I would recommend this camera.

How long do the AA batteries last? Thanks

The batteries that came with it, didn't last very long. The next set lasted quite awhile, I would sugest you get a couple sets of rechargable batteries, like I did. It dose not give you very much of a warning before they run out, so it is handy to have that other set charged and ready.

I have to ask why you are recording while driving, and snapping pics of license plates from 1/4 mile away???

I like to make travel movies and a dash cam works great for that, snapping pics of license plates from 1/4 mile away??? well that was just to show how great the zoom feature was and how well it would focus at that distance , you can see a deer or a road sign at that distance too. I also like the panorama function on this camera, it will take three pictures and process them into a great panorama photo right in the camera. My dash cam is mounted on a dash mount and works all by it's self so it is just there doing it's thing while I pay attention to the driving. It would work great if you had an accident because somebody ran a light or something. But mostly just to get the travel videos to edit when I get back home. By the way Carla, thank you for your interest, this is a great still camera but the video sucks...
