Greatest Shoe in Existence,
You've been lied to. All the fancy shoes costing hundreds of dollars and offering all sorts of space-age supports are NOT better for your feet. Fact is, those high tech shoes ruin your feet. Nature gave us all we need to survive and thrive. By providing our feet with artificial support, we lose the natural supportive function of our feet. Chucks provide a minimum of shoe, giving you only what you need for protection from the elements. This forces your feet to work and function as they were intended.
If you are a victim of misguided footwear technology, and can't walk or run without wide heels and lots of cushioning, you shouldn't get these just yet. Instead, gradually start buying shoes with less support and conditioning. In a year or two, your feet may be back to normal and you can try Chucks.
BTW, I run, walk, and climb in these things and my body is fully functional and pain free.
