Non-xbox live multiplayer is lacking.,
This review is from: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - Xbox 360 (Video Game)
I live on a college campus which blocks Xbox Live (I know, it sucks). As with Cod 4, there is no support for more than one player per system in a system link. This makes it pretty much useless. Only so many people have xboxes and only so many people who have systems have the game. You are basically stuck playing 4 players on one screen unless you want to LAN a 1-v-1.
Additionally, Spec-ops mode (which unfortunately steps in for the co-op mode and doesn't just add to the game) wont let you system link at ALL. This is absurd in my opinion.
Otherwise it is a great game.

Isn't there 8 vs 8 like the original halo for LAN? If so, why don't you plug into your dorm's hub and get other people to join your game?

No, COD4 was like he stated. Your options are 1) splitscreen 4-player, or 2) system link 1 per system/game. Therefore, up to 4 players can play on one game/system. 5 players need 5 games/systems. A fun 8 player Halo-like local game would require 8 games/systems. For LAN parties, the COD series is a no-show and Halo or GRAW is still king.
