Good Start for the Kinect, but there is a way to go!,
This review is from: Kinect Sports: Rivals - Xbox One (Video Game)
WARNING!!! This game doesn't allow for easy pickup and play. In order to play all the events you have to do every tutorial.
Meaning, if you plan on having this game at a party and you all want to pay with your customized avatars you'll all have to complete tutorials. While this may be a deal breaker I hope there will be an update that will allow custom avatar use for quick play.
Other than that the game has several options for menu navigation be it voice, controller or gesture. If one option doesn't work try another, though voice command works near flawlessly just don't forget the prefix word "LISTEN!", not " Xbox" or "Kinect."
The story is OK at best with cheesy characters that mean well but can sometimes come off as annoying of just plain corny. Don't take it too seriously and you should be able to enjoy it for what it is. Some of the dialogue is actually pretty funny.
The sports are range from OK to great! While everyone raves about climbing I like the soccer and shooting the best. The 3 returning sports are better than previous iterations. Though I wish if Boxing would've been included in the set of sports.
Character customization is great if you've ever wanted to see yourself as a Pixar character. You may further customize after your character after it scans you which is awesome.
This may be a bit of a stretch @ $60 but the game would be a bargain @ $45.
If the quick play option ever gets patched bump it up to $60.
Kinect sports is a fun game but it can be a bit limiting given the the Kinect's imperfections. Xbox fitness is a better example of the Kinect's abilities and it's much more effective for a fitness alternative. This is a good game if you are patient in the beginning. If you lack patients then you will be disappointed.
