When I first opened this book, I couldn't put it down. With page after page of Shaina's warm and inviting words and gorgeous photography, I was hooked. I love the fun factor of having a perfectly portioned dessert in your own special jar. Also, with a chapter devoted to homemade mixes for gift-giving, you'll always be prepared to bring a homemade touch to any special occasion.
The first recipe I tried was for the cardamom pear crisps, and they came out perfectly - warm and nutty from the oats and cardamom in the crisp topping, and wonderful with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Next up on my list to make are the flourless chocolate cakes, followed by the peach bourbon pies. I also love that the book is spiral-bound, so that it lays flat on the kitchen counter while I'm baking.
This impressive little book has definitely earned a permanent spot on my cookbook shelf - and I've ordered one for each of my friends for Christmas as well!
