I was rooting for this book, but...,
This review is from: Arm Candy (Hardcover)
I really wanted to like this book. Really, I did. The idea of a woman who'd always been arm candy dealing with aging and coming into her own really appealed to me. But I just couldn't like it. As others have said, it really did read like a young adult book, and I just couldn't get behind these characters who were fighting mother nature so hard. Also, the dialog was so strained. And it was everywhere. There was very little description or narration. We mostly got the story not through a narrator's voice, but the voices of the characters. And they were not good voices, that's all I can say about that.
Listen, it's a good beach read. It's a good fun-sit-by-the-pool-and-don't-exert-yourself-too-much read. But it really shouldn't count as reading. It's like candy - sugary with no nutritional content whatsoever, and you'd be wise not to ingest too much of it.
