5.0 out of 5 stars exactly what I wanted, November 23, 2011
This review is from: Toy Story Trilogy [Blu-ray 3D] (Blu-ray)
I wanted just the 3D version of Toy Story set and that's exactly what it is here. Wonderful 3D. And it's great NOT having all those extra disks to cluter up the place.

Also, if you have a 3D player you can switch these over to 2D Blu ray. Again, no extra discs.

Hey Paul,
I'm sorry they didn't send you the right one. Can you return it and ask specifically for the American one? It's worth a try.

Hey Paul,
I just went back and read the information box on the outside, and it tells me there is only a canadian version for toy story 3. The other two should be in Spanish. True???

That's not actually correct. If you have a 3D player and a 3D TV (and receiver, if the video goes through it), then you can switch to watch in 2D. Unless every part of your equipment chain supports 3D, you can't play the disc at all. Switching to 2D is only useful if you're short on glasses or something.

Bricktop says:
That's incorrect, all 3D discs should play in 2D in 2D players, that is how the MVC/MPEG-4 codec is designed. A 2D player just reads the full bit-rate left eye, the 50% bit-rate right eye signal is ignored.

Kind of like how dts legacy core can be read by players from a dts-ma signal even when they don't support dts-ma.

Only where a company has different rights for the 2D version will the 2D part of the 3D signal be locked, Sony did this with their FIFA World Cup 3D Blu-ray.
