This review is from: EATFL1-6 Triple Flange Sleeves for SE model earphones (except SE102MPA), SCL3, SCL4, SCL5, E3c, E4c, E5c, and E500 Versions (Electronics)
Shure has a useful set of ear adapters for their in-ear headphones. I used the "mushroom" shaped foam pads that seem to be most common with the SE series for the better part of a year and loved them aside from the slight irritation my ears continued to have.
After going through the last pad in pack of the foam pads (Shure PA10S, PA10M, or PA10L depending on your size), I forgot to order more. I tore a foam pad and had none left with a gig that day. The earphones came with a pair of these EATFL1 silicone rubber "triple-flange sleeves." So I tried them.
I will NOT go back to the ear-irritating foam pads. These block the stage noise amazingly well and let me really concentrate without having the desire to rip the things out of my ears and scratch.
They go into the ear and are effective in much less time than the foams. That can be critical if you miss a queue now and then and are sitting without your monitors in your ears. With the foams I run deaf for about 5 seconds as I wiggle the things around in my ears to get them pointed the right way. Not good as the earphones made me look even more unprofessional!
With the Triple Flange Sleeves, it is in and ready... and they are so comfortable I use my Shure earphones for all my listening now.
