1.0 out of 5 stars Never buy Hard Drive from Seagate!!, January 16, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1 TB USB 3.0 Ultra-Portable External Hard Drive in Black STAA1000101 (Personal Computers)
I bought two 1-TB Flex Go hard drives with in two months, and both failed after using for a while!! The first one was dropped from about 20cm high while the hard drive wasn't running. It shouldn't do any damage, but the hard drive seemed so fragile, and it was broken with no doubt, so I bought another one. After it runs for a month, it just failed!! There is a beeping sound while I plug it in, and the computer cannot recognize it any more. I searched the problem on Google, and found out that there are so many people having the same problem as I'm and none of them got any solutions!! The admins of customer service from Seagate forum didn't give out any acceptable solutions. They just hit around the bush, and sometimes suggest using their recovery data which cost thousands of dollers extra which makes me sick!

Dear David,

This reply is from Seagate Support. We noticed your review and wanted to comment on your experience with our GoFlex Ultra Portable drives.

Since hard drives - both internal and external - contain delicate components, dropping any of them will generally result in these no longer functioning.

Beeping can indicate that the drive is not getting enough power. If you are using this drive on a PC, make sure the drive is not used on any hub, monitor or keyboard USB port. If you have a Desktop PC I would try the drive on a backside USB port if possible. Reseat the data cable on our drive with the drive removed from the computer to make sure it is securely in place.

If you have any remaining questions or concerns, please contact our Technical Support staff free of charge, and we will be happy to assist: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/about/contact_us/

Best Regards,
Seagate Support
