Good, but buggy and needs work,
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops II - PlayStation 3 (Video Game)
I'm a long time fan of COD and have been playing since the series first came out. Having been stuck on MW3 and considered it the best COD yet, I couldn't wait to see what was in store next (Black Ops II). Even though it was by Treyarch as opposed to Activision, I still had high hopes because the first Black Ops was pretty impressive.
Threw in the CD, completely skipped Campaign as usual and went straight to Multiplayer. Mind you, before I spill out the details, I have an 8mb connection with pretty low ping rate. Start playing online and 10 minutes later I found myself wanting to yank the disc out and break it in half. By far the worst lag I've seen in any COD. Althought it showed my connection as 3 bars (second best) whenever my friend or myself weren't host, I was getting ANNIHILATED. Coming from MW3 where I was scoring something in the range of 30-3, 25-7, figures like that I was hoping I'd be doing the same on Black Ops but instead I was getting 7-14, 10-15. I'd clearly see someone before they saw me and while unloading my clip into them, they'd simply turn to the side or completely turn around and just nail me like it was nothing. This pretty much indicated that lag compensation on Treyarch's servers was terrible.
However, they've recently updated and following the update I've been having more success, leaving my disc intact so I don't have to break it anymore, and a happier gamer. The only complain I have at the moment is the freezing up from time to time while browsing through the menus like Create Class, or Combat Record. It will freeze for a few seconds and you have to wait for it to go back to normal. I have had my PS3 completely freeze up to the point that it won't even respond to inputs on my controller, which is something they really have to work on. I have to basically press the power button on the system or pull the plug and power it back on.
Good: Fun Multiplayer, really nice additions to Class Creation system, Intense maps with looks of nooks to walk through or discover.
Bad: Connection issues that still surface from time to time, freezing occasionally.
