Hi-def with 1.33 aspect ratio???? Is this really in hi-def or just a DVD in Blu-Ray? It's just not right.

Sorry you didn't get the picture quality you expected. Can you please tell me though: In general, how is the content of DVDs?

Thanks for your input.

I'd think that as important, considering at least the universe (haven't watched how the earth was made) was taped in 16:9.

History Channel's store confirms the 1.33:1 and the "video clips" does NOTHING to sell the product. Give it a watch for yourself:

This Blu-ray release is in 1.78:1 aspect ratio - but 1080i instead of 1080p - according to this review: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/44916/earth-space/

Thanks. So to clarify for me, notwithstanding the picture quality is it a good set of DVDs? I never saw the shows so I don't no anything about the content.

Thanks again,

Rob

Yes, I am aware of that. What I'd like to know is whether or not the content (the series itself) is worthwhile.

JD says:
Technically speaking, HD only defines the vertical resolution, not aspect ratio. I would hope they use whatever aspect best fits the aspect it was filmed in.

If you don't own it, don't review it. If you do own it, please actually review it.

If you want a review of the content, rather than the format, you're better off checking reviews for The Universe: The Complete Season 1 [Blu-ray] and How the Earth Was Made: Complete Season 1 [Blu-ray].

funny you should say that. only because when i scan the products barcode myself, it is the only bluray amongst the several hundred that i have that says the format is dvd rather than bluray.
