This review is from: Manga Studio EX 4 (Software)
This is "better" version from Manga Studio Debut 4. It has more features and is much more professional. Although the price is quite steep if you're serious about art and creating authentic looking manga this is the best tool. Even if its not for a manga, the built in patterns and different pens and brushes is worth the price. It's better than Photoshop because its not at all complicated to understand, but more complicated than Open Canvas, Corel Painter and SAI.
However if you can speak Japanese or is willing to wait for the English version - I recommend IllustStudio. From the same creators but with more tools and 3D imaging added. It's like SAI mixed with Photoshop and Poser. It's a lot less expensive BUT it is geared more towards regular artists rather than mangakas.

Wow, I hadn't heard of IllustStudio, but it looks great. Have you heard how much it will be? Wonder when it's going to come out in English. If it IS better than Manga Studio, especially if it's cheaper, you'd be crazy not to get it huh? I'm not into Manga, myself, just good ol' American comics.

It does doesn't it? I was so excited when I first heard about it I wanted to learn Japanese just so I can use the software. I hope fans will make an unofficial English version of it like they did with Paint Tool SAI.
It's about $50 US. Which is EXTREMELY cheap for such a great software. I heard there are some incomplete English translations out there (check DeviantART they have everything).
Hope I was a bit helpful!

I agree Manga Studio EX 4 is worth every penny but I think Debut is good too. Considering its even better than Manga Studio Debut 3.0 which is even more primitive than either version of Manga Studio 4. Manga Studio Debut 3.0 doesn't even have a built in word balloon function. I think both versions of Manga Studio 4.0 are better than their predecessors.
I don't just use Manga Studio to draw manga I use it to draw American comics too.

True. The only bad thing about it is that you can't upload scaned pictures or saved files from photoshop or any other art software.
