Essential Resource for the Sex-Positive,
This review is from: Fetish Sex: A Complete Guide to Sexual Fetishes (Kindle Edition)
In the revised and expanded edition of Fetish Sex, Violet Blue gets deep into the many forms of desire that a fetish can take in (or out of!) the bedroom, starting with an excellent discussion of the concept of sexual fetishes (and the inaccurate perceptions that many have thanks to mainstream media portrayals that range from the misguided to the just plain wrong), why a fetish is perfectly natural, and busting a few myths. Accepting and understanding personal sexuality (whatever form it may take) is also a major theme, including how to safely and responsibly communicate with your partner about your turn-ons, and suggestions on how to make the experience pleasurable on both sides.
The book also devotes significant time on cataloging and explaining different fetishes and subcultures ranging from a love of fingernails to a need to be used as human furniture, and virtually every possibility in-between. Blue also spends considerable time discussing making the sharing or private enjoyment of these behaviors a safe, healthy, and consensual process for all involved. Health and safety is actually a major part of the work, making sure the reader understands what is and is not behavior to be attempted alone or without a skilled professional available to assist.
The book also features extensive resources to help locating supplies, professional mental and health advice, and positive play environments for the curious and erotic vignettes between major chapters for the reader's enjoyment. It makes an excellent resource for the curious or the sex-positive looking to explore with themselves or a lover, and I highly suggest reading it by yourself...and perhaps making another copy a gift to someone special.
