The Book on Tape isn't Identical to the Book...,

...but don't let that throw you off.
(This review refers to the audiobook version; Amazon apparently has the two tied together.)
Amazon lists this book-on-tape as being an unabridged version of the book, however it should be viewed as more of an auxiliary item related to the book. Julia Cameron, early in the tape, describes going into the mountains with friends and doing readings from the book, having discussions with friends, and then distilling it down into this tape.
The friends are rarely heard from on the tape, so what we hear is mostly Ms. Cameron reading, expounding a little, and singing a bit as well.
This all sounds like I'm knocking the tape, but as you can see from my rating, I'm not. There is a bunch of inspirational material on the tape and it gives you a lot to think about. Ms. Cameron has a soothing voice as well, so her words really have a way of softly settling onto your brain cells. Many of the philosophies can be broadened to our regular workplace or to our everyday lives; after a single listen I found myself parroting some of Ms. Cameron's comments.
However, if you're looking for a recording of Ms. Cameron reading the entire book verbatim, you won't get it here. This should be viewed as a kind of "companion volume" to the book itself.
