5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful analysis into the first two years, April 4, 2011
This review is from: Gangster Government: Barack Obama and the New Washington Thugocracy (Hardcover)
David Freddoso's new book, Gangster Government, cuts past the rhetoric of the last few years and cogently analyzes the major initiatives of the Obama Administration. Based on shoe-leather reporting of the first degree, Freddoso presents valuable insights into the programs that have been at the center of our national discourse: the stimulus, Obamacare, the auto bailout, etc. As Freddoso examines each in turn, he illustrates how the Administration has been willing to ignore fundamental principles of law to achieve its ends, which often involve rewards for the Administration's friends and punishment for those, no matter the reason, who happen to stand in its way. Freddoso does not just question the ends of this Administration; he also questions what the impact of this Administration will be on the nature of American Government.

In short, Gangster Government is an excellent analysis of the first two years of the Obama Administration, showing the way in which it chose not to allow various crises to go to waste.

I rather doubt that the author of this book, who chose the title, voted for Obama.

Ms. (or Mrs.) Rachel, are you OK? Did you have a meltdown or sorts? It appears so, by your personal and political gibberish! However, welcome to the fray and thank you for proving my point to Mr. Jones and any interested reader concerning the extreme, radical, far left tact of deflection, libel, slander, false accusation(s) and false allegation(s) of "racism" into an intelligent discussion. You don't like what my opinion is, so you accuse me of being a racist! It would be comical if it wasn't so shameful and disgraceful of you Ms. Rachel.

Your opinion is ....."We're living in the Banana Republic created by the Bush/Cheney administration. If you think the title of this book is not racist then, yes, I would have to say you are racist. I rather doubt that the author of this book, who chose the title, voted for Obama."

But of course... it is all Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney's fault, but of course, it is. Do you know where the phrase "Banana Republic" came from? You dare call our great nation a "Banana Republic"? So, you believe we live in a Banana Republic, that specifically voted for a man, of color, to become the president of the United States!

For the past two years, this current president has "wasted money"... he has assisted in giving birth to "governmental growth"... nor has he put an end to "never-ending governmental spending"? Are you saying Mr. Obama has balanced the budget? Are you implying he has found the solution to the debt crisis? With the insistence of Standards and Poors and now Moody's, you do understand America is flat broke right? Ms. Rachel, are you better off today than you were in the past?

Calling me racist Ms. Rachel, without any substantiated evidence or over-whelming proof, simply because I express a personal opinion, contrary to your warped political opinions, reflects very poorly upon yourself Ma'am, not me. You just proved me correct in all my opinions of the extreme, far-left, radical, zealots.

The race card, being played by you, and in your own hand, is not an ace but only a joker. You should be ashamed if you had any concept of what shame meant. I do not know for a fact, if the author voted for Mr. Obama but I can tell you I might not have. So your point is?

By your own words... by your own actions... you truthfully, sincerely and honestly reflect you are being "disingenuous" and "blinded by your misleading, misguided and misinformed politics".

Your admiration and obsession for a specific politician and specific political party, is childishly obvious and personally idiotic, in my opinion. We do have historical fact, to fall back upon, for evidence how dangerous such an admiration and obsession might be. You do study history don't you Ma'am? You do know about World War II?

It is also my opinion Ma'am, you are being "disrespectful, arrogant, ignorant, deceitful, silly, childish, foolish, pathetic, sad, angry, immature, un-reasonable, un-educated, un-dignified, un-fair, un-intelligent, un-kind, illogical, close-minded, condescending and worst of all "un-American", with such a un-substantiated and un-called for label". Please stop being blinded by your politics Ms. Rachel and utilize a concept called, "common-sense", if you know what I mean!

May I respectfully suggest... you might desire to incorporate "all your thoughts into one post" instead of seven separate and individual posts, as you respond! It makes you appear disheveled and chaotic, if you do as you did.

By the way, if you are in any way offended Mr. Jones and I respond to one another, on this thread or anywhere else, you do have the option of "not reading our posts"! You know that, right? You are not seriously, foolishly and unsuccessfully attempting to censor us, are you Ms. Rachel?

Take care, God Bless and God's speed Ma'am...

Mr Doaks, funny you should post this since Black Water, the Unconstitutional wars (plus two new ones by Obama) are still in effect. The Unions and GE are Obama's Haliburton. And Obama has given the EPA unprecedented access to make laws, so much so that the fact that you are breathing is causing "global warming" or should I say "Climate Change". I am not a supporter of Bush but to try to make a distinction between Obama and Bush is futile. STILL in Iraq, STILL in Afghanistan, STILL in Guitmo, TWO new "Unconstitutional" wars (as of this post although it looks like we will be in Syria full bore soon), STILL Robert Gates as SECDEF, STILL Patriot Act and with even GREATER reach than under Bush. Obama has never produced ANYTHING. His life and career has been predicated on the taking of others. Ironically, the majority stock holder in Haliburton is George Soros. He funds Moveon.org and media matters and other left wing propaganda machines. Where is the outrage there? He made a bundle off of the oil spills, GE has gotten contracts for building Solar panels, charging stations, electronic medical records infrastructure, got bail out money, paid a big fat ZERO in taxes, owned MSNBC during the 08 elections, Obama has Emelt as an advisor inside the White-house. Where is the outrage? Where is Cyndi Sheehan and the anti-war movement? Where is the conspiracy theories of how Soros caused the oil leak to make money. Soros bought the clean up company 3 weeks before the oil spill. Why not give the same treatment? I will tell you. Anyone who supports Obama but bashes Bush even though they do the SAME things is a phony. Ihave zero respect for them since their arguments and beliefs are skewed with party as opposed to facts. If you are against the war being waged by the executive branch without properly being declared by congress then you MUST be definition oppose Obama. If you oppose the Big Corporation getting special treatment and criticize Bush for it, the you MUST oppose Obama and HIS special treatment to the Labor Unions of which he worked to defend as legal council. If you opposed the un-healthy relationship of Halliburton then you MUST vehemently oppose that of GE and Obama. You see, Obama is not much different that that demon Bush you lefties like to bash. Aside from Obama wanted to buy votes of the people by giving them handouts or "tax cuts" even though they pay NO taxes, even though he is spending money at an alarming rate (spent more in his first 2 months that Bush spent in Iraq and Afghanistan in 8 years) and we have no way of repaying it, he is STILL your man. Will all die respect, Obama nor anyone in his administration have an ounce of integrity nor do they have a clue on how to attain it ESPECIALLY on the "legislative issues". Lets all put PARTY aside and lets look at the facts.

Art Hyland says:
You obviously have not and will not actually read the book. Your entire critique is to attempt to compare generalities rather than deal with the specifics in the actual book. But if you did that, you'd find it difficult to refute, except for doing what you just did, run off at the mouth with no specifics. Get real.

as I recall, the two Senators from WV came out endorsing their "boy" and John Edwards made his endorsement to stomp out the 40% margin by which the Voters of West Virginia rejected this jerk? It wasn't "racism" ... THEY DIDN'T TRUST HIM!!! Hill Billies - like Southerners - aren't innerested in yer fake correctness...they KNOW WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT THEM behind their backs, and thanks to cell phone videos, what Obama said about them to rich donors in San Francisco.
