Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Source Naturals Vitamin C Ascorbic Acid Crystals, 16 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
I bought the V-C for personal consumption. I guess it's working fine. Thank you for your time.

I guess it's nice you guess it's working fine. Bet you didn't know most Vitamin C sold in the US nowadays is sourced from China, and some of it has been proven to contain heavy metal contamination (e.g. lead). God knows what else is in it.

You need to cite your info as it's very alarming.
In light of your claim, I wrote to Source Naturals and received their reply. The DO get their Ascorbic Acid and Sodium Ascorbate from China BUT they insist their quality controls guarantee no heavy metals etc in their products. They get certificates from the vendors, and they also do sample testing here in the USA. But still a bit scary to find this out, as there is nothing on the label indicating the original source was China! I suggest anyone interested in purchasing from this company to also contact them. I have to admit, I will now look for a company that sources materials from the USA if possible. This is a non-regulated industry, so I will now contact all mfrs to check before buying. My family takes mega-doses of Source Naturals, both Ascorbic Acid crystals and Sodium Ascorbate crystals, and has been doing so for 6 years now. No colds or flu and I dose to bowel tolerance. I take 4000 mg/day when healthy, and have taken up to 30000 daily for a sore throat (recently) I would think I'd have heavy metal symptoms by now if this product was one of the ones you meant to concern us with (why no product mentioned?) .I don't want to cause alarm here, but maybe we all need to ask more questions. Thank you, OldAmazonian, but please cite your sources for your info. I assume they did testing and posted a list of manufacturers who failed the testing? Where did Source Naturals fit in? I really need to know!
