Counterfeit/not-genuine Hard Drive,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Xbox 360 250GB HardDrive - Xbox Slim Only (Accessory)
Purchased hard drive as it was advertised as being an original Microsoft-branded accessory. I receive the drive packed in a very convincing OEM-style retail package with genuine Microsoft markings. On installation of the drive, I noted that it was completely empty and did not contain any software despite the box stating content was included. I then attempted to play an original XBox title to test the backwards compatibility of the drive and was unsuccessful. I contacted Microsoft Xbox Tech Support who confirmed that the drive was counterfeit and the serial number on the accessory was not valid. Very unhappy with this purchase.

I purchased from the seller "Gamers Force". After Microsoft confirmed that the serial number on my drive was invalid, I did a Google search and found other posts from users who had purchased counterfeit XBox drives that had the same serial number as the one I received. I'm purchasing a full-priced retail-packaged drive either from MS directly or from a more reputable retailer to avoid having this happen again.

Thanks for letting us know. I emailed them asking if they are fakes/unofficial drives. They said they dont sell generic products and also said they play the original xbox games. Good thing i didnt buy it. Everyone who bought the drives should at least say which seller they bought it from so many ppl like us will know who not to buy it from. Thanks again.

My issue with this is it isnt a review for the drive. Excellent information but blasting the microsoft drive because you got a counterfeit isnt fair.

He didn't blast MS Drive, he's talking about the drive he bought and the company that sold it. He said he's going to purchase me directly from MS or from a better retailer.
