Laws of Harmony,
This review is from: The Laws of Harmony: A Novel (Paperback)The previous reviewers all say great things about this book. And they are correct. But it doesn't give the whole picture.
Yes, it is very detailed. The main character is flawed and believable. The premise isn't too outrageous. The characters are unique and interesting without being bizarre.
My problem with this book is the lack of resolution. I don't necessarily need all my stories neatly wrapped up and all questions resolved in order to be satisfied. But it would be nice if a few more were. At the end of the book (spoilers from this point on) We still don't know how Sunny feels about her pregnancy, her far-flung family members or the potential for romantic involvement in the future. The book ends and there are a lot of unresolved questions. So many that it felt like the book was unfinished.
Either the author ran into a deadline or she is keeping her story arc options wide open for a sequel.
I really enjoy JRH's books and this one did satisfy as far as it went. I just wish it went a bit further.
