Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Infinity Primus Two-way 6 1/2-Inch Bookshelf/Satellite Speaker (Black, Each) (Electronics)
I just built a 5.1 home theater using 3 163's as my front L/R and center and 2 153's for my rear surrounds. They are being ran by a Denon 1713 receiver and these speakers are awesome!
I got them on sale for $100 for a pair but I would not hesitate to pay full price for these. I purchased these without hearing them because I knew from past experience that Infinity puts out excellent speakers. I was not disappointed. They have a nice full range of sound and can even hit the low notes. I would still recommend a sub unit to pair up with these, they are after all 6.5" speakers.
The build quality is very nice. These things are heavy and a little bigger than I expected. The 163's are not wall mountable (from the factory anyways) but the 153's do come with key-hole mounts installed..
This is my first true surround sound system and I'll tell you, I've never experienced music like this before. I listen to a lot of heavier stuff like Alice In Chains, Chevelle, etc and I would've never imagined this music being able to sound like this!
My room is 15x16x9 and my receiver is 80w per channel and at 75% these things are as loud as I like (loud) and have no distortion at all. I would recommend these to everyone.
You guys with too much money to waste can have your $1000+ A PIECE SPEAKERS, these suit me just fine.
I will also add that I am a professional musician and have heard music out of a lot of different systems and other than PA's being louder, nothing I've heard before sounds as good as these do.
