a little more tell than show...eh?,
This review is from: The Luxe (Luxe Novel) (Paperback)
Confessions of a Book-a-holic
Ooook. where should I start. This book is written beautifully--oh and it has a great cover! The END! jk
The Luxe revolves around two sisters Diana and Elizabeth. At the beginning you find that Elizabeth is dead and they are carrying her "lighter than usual" coffin to her grave sight. They describe everyone's mood, and make you seem like Diana is smiling because she killed HER!
Basically the book is just about love. Elizabeth loves Will, Diana loves Henry, Penelope loves Henry, Henry love Diana, Lina love Will, Will loves Elizabeth... I don't know who loves Penelope. And what they do to honor their families, and duties, but most importantly follow their hearts.
Let me tell you right now, this book is written beautifully. But it's more of a tell you book, than it is a show you book. Instead of long deep conversations, you have elongated descriptions that take over the whole book. You can read the first one hundred pages, and the last one hundred pages, and my golly I think you have an idea of what this book is about!
It's a great idea, and executed very well. I just think if I was offered a little more show, a little more conversation, a little more character. I would have been fully grasped further into the story.
