4.0 out of 5 stars Monsters., September 24, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Monsters (Amazon Video)
As one who is actually reviewing the film, and not ranting against the rental policy, I give this film four stars. Focusing on the two mains characters of the film, than on elaborate and expensive effects, Gareth Edwards has produced a remarkable tale of two American's trapped beyond the Infected Zone, following an outbreak of extra-terrestrial spores, in Mexico, trying to return to the United States. The limited effects are first rate, and, unlike many Hollywood films, exist to support the storyline, not replace it.

I thought that it was a well crafted movie ,that's if you have an attention span of more than 30 seconds.

I really enjoyed this movie as well. The plot was good, and it was nice watching something fresh, unlike all the remakes/sequels that have been released recently. Furthermore, it wasn't completely saturated with CG, though it was limited, it was used very well. A little CG here and there, as it should be. And lastly, the score for the film was great which no one seems to have commented on. The composer, Jon Hopkins, really set the mood for the film. I checked out his other works, and they are just as awesome.

Yeah, like the second half of "Man of Steel." There were so many "exciting" action scenes going on with loads of CGI it quickly became dull.
