This review is from: Persuader-in-Chief: Global Opinion and Public Diplomacy in the Age of Obama (Paperback)
When it comes to this subject, Nancy Snow is definitely an expert with her academic and professional experience, her passion, her enthusiasm, and her writing style. I am a grad student and share similar research interests. I believe I pretty much read everything she has written so far. Though I really cannot praise this book.
If you are interested in soft power, public opinion, new methods of communication, and how Obama is likely to change American foreign policy in these terms, this is indeed a good book. But it doesn't have the intellectual richness of Dr. Snow's other books and articles. Frankly speaking, I consider the book to be a long, well-written blog post.
I gave the book four stars because someone had to write about Obama and public diplomacy; and Dr. Snow is one of the most qualified scholars to do so.
If you heard the term public diplomacy but don't know much about it or if you want to learn about public diplomacy, get the book. It is a great resource, easy to read, and contains information about several aspects of public diplomacy. If you are familiar with the term and want to learn more, try Dr. Snow's other books.
