A Book that Needs to be Read,
This review is from: The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists (Hardcover)
This book is a must for anyone trying to understand the leftward tilt of the Obama presidency. While he ran as a moderate, his roots in the radical left go back a long way and run deeply. With painstaking research, the authors begin to shed light on the aspects of President Obama's background that the administration and the left want to keep well hidden. The information in this book should have been available to the nation PRIOR to the 2008 election. Hopefully it comes in time to alert Americans to the danger the Obama presidency presents to our basic freedoms, and to the economic and social wellbeing of the nation.

Richard, you state: "The information in this book should have been available to the nation PRIOR to the 2008 election." Sorry, but the information WAS available. Remember this: "We are 5 days away from fundamentally TRANSFORMING the United States of America." Barack Obama, October 31, 2008. I don't know what that sentence meant to you, but I KNEW I didn't want the United States of America to be TRANSFORMED. Obama also stated he was going to "bring change you can believe in." He just neglected to say what KIND of change he was going to bring and WHAT he was going to change. And on top of all that, Rush, Hannity, and Beck all warned us of his Marxist connections months in advance of the election. The information was ALWAYS there; it's just that most Americans were in denial of what was staring them in the face! Fortunately, I did not drink the Kool-aid; but I am fearful that with each passing day, we are quickly reaching the point of no return. God help us.

Richard Hasselbach says:
I agree, Gail, but the mainstream media turned a blind eye - and gave Obama a pass on his dicey past. At the time he had virtually no record - so he could fool enough Americans with his charm, and with the illusion that electing a black president would heal the nation's racial divide and put an end to the race-hatred business.

J. Oberoi says:
I disagree that Obama ran as a moderate. He ran as a left-wing liberal democrat. Even moveon.org endorsed him.

Both the review/commentary and the comments that followed are measured and intelligent assessments, with no name-calling and saber-rattling -- thank you all. I tend to agree with J. Oberoi that the endorsement, and active support, of Obama by moveon.org should by itself have been sufficient warning -- although one must add that WHO ELSE could moveon.org support -- McCain?
I look forward to reading the book as soon as I receive it and may have further comment them, I do not engage in prejudgment.

In defense of Mr Hasselbach: "I agree, Gail, but the mainstream media turned a blind eye - and gave Obama a pass on his dicey past. At the time he had virtually no record - so he could fool enough Americans with his charm, and with the illusion that electing a black president would heal the nation's racial divide and put an end to the race-hatred business. "
I work with and know intelligent people who were taken in by the Obama message and never heard what he really said.
It is almost like they lost their hearing, minds and eyes. That is why so many refer to the koolaid effect.
They saw nothing but a nice guy who would make everything all nice in the world.
What is more disturbing is the number of those people who should now know better but they do not want to know better because it is too embarrassing.
So how does saving yourself and your country not count more than being embarrassed?
Hopefully, they will all wake up very soon.

Audrey Ihrig says:
The news media is responsible for making Obama president. The news media is the strongest thing going for the democrat party. The democrats have a one billion dollar advantage because much of the working press is socialistic-progressinve ideologues.

Spring Wilde says:
"...There's one thing that might not have occurred to you as to why so many people voted for Obama. The reason might be that they had enough of Republicans and Conservatism. ..."
Having had 'enough' of Republicans would be a convenient rationale for explaining the Obama hysteria. In reality, Obama employed a strategy suited for masses of uneducated, unemployed government dependents who did not habitually voted, nor were politically concerned, until he showed up on the podium, in that 57th state, promising money for everyone, for not much in return than a vote.
He'll win the next election as well, and if our law allowed it, he'd be president for life. Thus is what had become of American pride; it appears we've sold it for food-stamps and some pot.
