5.0 out of 5 stars A hint to the clueless, January 7, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Console Slim - Black (Video Game)
For all of you clueless adults out there: you must purchase a memory card or the kids can't save their games and have to start over from the very beginning, which can be tedious. My daughter played continuously for hours on end, sleepy-eyed even in the day or so following Christmas (before we purchased a memory card), simply because when she turned the game off, it would be lost forever. Save your children. Buy a memory card.

Yup a memory card is definitely a good idea. If you don't own one or the one you have is full, just pause the game and leave the console powered on. It is not very power hungry, 45W max I think so leave it on and go to sleep. My friend used to do this on a regular basis so I know for sure it is safe.

Sometimes it can be safe, but there are definitely a few stories going around about game consoles frying after being left on for too long. Memory cards are pretty cheap, so it's a lot better to be safe than sorry.

Useful and funny review, great job. Also, if you care about losing your saved games, you can always back them up. Also, third party memory cards are generally cheaper. In a way, it also has its pluses compared to current generations and PCs that the consoles can break or you can take the card to a friend's house, and you will still have your saves.

can you use something else to save games? other than the 8mb memor card? maybe like a 8g memory card duo like they have for psp?

Good advice for parents who've never played video games or purchased video game consoles before.
I've been playing videos since I was a kid so of course I pay attention to that sort of thing.

Yes, but when I bought a Playstation 2, the memory card came shipped with it. I didn't buy it from Amazon though. It was at Fry's years ago!
